About the Mary Lou Fletcher Scholarship
In 2003, David Allen White, a graduate of Hobbs High School Class of 1983, founded this scholarship to honor the exemplary work of Mary Lou Fletcher. Inspired by Mrs. Fletcher’s selfless dedication to her students and their betterment through education, Mr. White desired to offer encouragement to graduating seniors who wished to further their academic careers beyond the walls of Hobbs High School.
Mary Lou Fletcher’s enthusiasm for learning, her ability to make each student realize his or her potential and her patient spirit have motivated generations of Hobbs students. With this same attitude, Mr. White hopes that The Mary Lou Fletcher Scholarship will hearten Hobbs seniors to work toward fulfilling their dreams for years to come.
The recipient of The Mary Lou Fletcher Scholarship will be awarded $1000 to be applied to expenses in their first year of college. The funds will be divided evenly and awarded in a sum at the start of each semester during the recipient's freshman year.
